How It Started

A musician from a young age, Birk received his first guitar when he was 9 years old, and it sparked a lifelong love for music. Wanting to maintain and repair his own instruments, he taught himself the craft of luthiery. Over the years, his dedication and hands-on experience have turned his passion into a true mastery of guitar building and repair, helping musicians bring their instruments to life and achieve their best performance.

What began as a personal need soon became a lifelong pursuit. Through years of experimentation, learning, and refinement, Birk developed a deep understanding of tone, playability, and craftsmanship. His approach blends traditional luthiery techniques with a musician’s perspective, ensuring every instrument not only looks exceptional but feels and sounds right.

Today, through Kirb Guitars, Birk continues to build, restore, and refine stringed instruments with care and precision. He offers custom builds, repairs, maintenance, and aesthetic finishing, tailoring each project to the unique needs of the musician. Every instrument is treated with the same goal in mind: to respect the craft, the instrument, and the player behind it.
